Tour Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrival in Athens
Arrival at Athens airport - Transfer to your hotel in Athens - Free afternoon - Overnight at the hotel. Take a walk to enjoy Athens by night.
Day 2 - Panoramic tour of Athens
After your breakfast, we will start the tour around the sites of Athens. This tour gives you an opportunity to observe the striking contrasts that make Athens such a fascinating city. Our expert guides will take you to see the Panathenaic Stadium where the first Olympic Games of modern times were held in 1896 (short stop).
Continue and pass by the Prime Minister's residence (Old Royal Palace) guarded by the Evzones in their colourful uniform, the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the Hadrian's Arch, the Parliament and the memorial to the Unknown Soldier, the Academy, the University, the National Library, the Constitution Square (Syntagma).
On the Acropolis visit the Architectural Masterpieces of the Golden Age of Athens: The Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion and finally "the harmony between material and spirit", the monument that "puts the mind in order", the Parthenon.
Continue and visit the place where the statues found their home and admire the classical era’s wonders: The Acropolis Museum.
The evening is free. We recommend taking a tour to enjoy the beautiful sunset in Cape Sounion. Overnight in Athens
Day 3 - Free Day
Take this to stroll along the narrow streets of Plaka, the old Athenian quarter, and take in the sights and sounds of this vibrant neighbourhood. Discover traditional restaurants and cafes where you can taste delicious Greek cuisine and enjoy a cold glass of the famous Greek drink "ouzo."
Enjoy the historic ambience of this neighbourhood and take in the colourful facades of the houses, many of which are decorated with flowers, giving them a picturesque touch. Visit the famous Monastiraki flea market and explore the many shops selling traditional Greek souvenirs.
Overnight in Athens.
Day 4 - Athens - Epidaurus - Mycenae – Olympia
Depart from Athens and travel to the Corinth Canal, a narrow waterway that connects the Gulf of Corinth with the Saronic Gulf. It is a man-made marvel of engineering and a great spot for a short stop to admire the views and take some pictures.
We continue our journey to Epidaurus, known for its ancient theatre, one of the best-preserved theatres of the classical world, and renowned for its excellent acoustics. Take a guided tour and learn about the history of the theatre and its significance in ancient Greece.
Next, we will make a short stop in Nafplion, a charming seaside town known for its Venetian architecture, narrow streets and charming squares. After Nafplion, we will head to Mycenae, one of the most important archaeological sites of ancient Greece. Visit the Citadel, where the palace and the tomb of Agamemnon can be found.
Our final destination for the day is Olympia, across the Peloponnese. Known as the birthplace of the Olympic Games, Olympia offers a wealth of history and culture. Arrive at the hotel, check in and overnight.
Day 5 - Olympia – Delphi
Our first stop of the day is Olympia, the birthplace of the Olympic Games. Visit the Museum, where you can see the exhibits of the ancient Olympic Games such as the statues of the athletes and the victory wreaths. Continue to the Archaeological Site, where you can see the remains of the ancient stadiums, the gymnasium, the palaestra, the workshop of Pheidias, the temple of Zeus, and the altar of the Olympic flame.
After visiting Olympia, we depart for Delphi, crossing the plains of Ilia and Achaia and reaching the large bridge of Rio, which connects the Peloponnese with mainland Greece (Antirio) through Nafpaktos and other picturesque towns. The journey is an opportunity to admire the stunning scenery of the area.
Arrive in Delphi for dinner and overnight, to be ready to explore more of the ancient city the next day. Delphi, known as the navel of the world, is home to the famous Oracle of Delphi and the Sanctuary of Apollo Pythios, one of the most important religious and spiritual centres of ancient Greece.
Day 6 - Delphi – Meteora
We start the day by visiting Delphi, one of the most important religious and spiritual centres of ancient Greece. First, we will visit the Museum, which contains many important artefacts and sculptures from the Sanctuary of Apollo Pythios. Next, we will visit the Archaeological Site, where the remains of the Temple of Apollo, the theatre, the stadium, the treasuries, and the famous Oracle of Delphi can be seen. The Oracle of Delphi was a place where people could go to ask questions and receive guidance from the god Apollo through Pythia, the priestess of Apollo.
After visiting Delphi, we depart for Kalambaka, a small town situated at the foot of the Meteora Rocks. Kalambaka is known for the unique and amazing scenery of the Meteora, an enormous rock formation with a complex of monasteries that are built on top of the rocks. This is a truly unique and spectacular place and a must-see destination for any traveller visiting Greece.
Arrive in Kalambaka for dinner and overnight, to be ready to explore more of the Meteora the next day.
Day 7 - Meteora – Athens
Visit Meteora and its unique monasteries, built on top of massive rock formations. Return to Athens, stopping at Thermopylae to see the monument of King Leonidas. Arrive in Athens in the afternoon and overnight.
Day 8 - Athens – Departure
Transfer to Athens airport for the departure with an English-speaking Assistant.
